GRAD Decking Systems
Invisible Fixing and Aluminium SubstructuresGRAD® is a premium decking and exterior flooring system built around an innovative invisible fixing method and precision aluminium substructure. Developed in France, the GRAD system is designed to create clean, durable terraces and decking installations without visible screws through the face of the boards.
The history of GRAD® dates back to 1988 in Alsace, France, where the business began under the name Architecture du Bois, specialising in timber outdoor structures. The company completed its first timber terrace in 1992 and progressively developed specialist expertise in decking. Its patented clip technology followed, with the first patent awarded in 2005 and further development of the GRAD invisible fixing system in the years that followed.
At the centre of the GRAD decking system are aluminium rails fitted with specially designed clips. Compatible grooved decking boards are pressed securely onto the clips, leaving the finished surface free from visible fixings. GRAD offers both load-bearing and non-load-bearing aluminium rails, alongside a range of clips, finishing profiles and accessories for different project requirements.

Variety of Materials
The system can be used with a wide variety of timber, modified timber, composite and aluminium/mineral boards. GRAD also provides solutions for porcelain terraces, cladding and other architectural applications, making the system highly adaptable for both residential and commercial projects.
For raised terraces, the GRAD Top Lift adjustable pedestal system supports the aluminium rails and allows the finished deck level to be accurately adjusted. GRAD patented the Top Lift system in 2013, adding another important element to its complete terrace construction system.
At Naturalis, we supply and install GRAD decking systems in Jersey, Guernsey and across the Channel Islands, providing clients with a high-quality solution for terraces, balconies and outdoor living spaces.
GRAD combines hidden fixings, engineered aluminium support and refined detailing to create decking designed for long-term performance and a clean architectural finish.

Responsibly Sourced
Grad choose to work with recycled and recyclable materials. They use 80% recycled aluminium, which is 100% recyclable, and the plastic used to make the accessories and clips is also 100% recyclable.
Grad produce their products to order and use the woodchip waste from production to heat their factory. Lastly, when acquiring raw materials, they try to keep their supply chains as short as possible to keep their carbon footprint to a minimum.

How it Weathers
The Grad system is made from aluminium and POM (a type of recyclable plastic) to create a decking substructure that endures the test of time. Its invisible clip improves aesthetics and helps stabilise the boards.
Grad have combined this revolutionary system with the best in both natural modified wood technology, working alongside board manufacturers Millworks, Kebony, Thermory, and Accoya.
Modified Wood
Modified wood is natural wood that has undergone a meticulous modification process to enhance its attributes. This process elevates the wood to an extraordinary level of performance, rendering it exceptionally durable, stable, and resistant to decay and pests.
Natural Wood
Natural wood offers timeless beauty straight from nature. Carefully selected for its innate strength, character, and charm, natural wood delivers authenticity and warmth to any project. When sourced and processed correctly, it provides reliable durability and enduring appeal, making it a sustainable and versatile choice for cladding and decking.
